Finding Peace. Workshop by Barbara English10/30/2010 - 9:00am I am one of the co-founders of Living Ubuntu, a non-profit based in Orange County that focuses on stress and trauma recovery. For the last year and half, we have partnered with The Southern California Institute for Bioenergetic Analysis (an association of psychotherapists) to present on various topics. It is our deepest conviction that most of the problems in the world (war, conflict, genocide etc.) have a huge emotional underpinning that is rarely addressed or resolved. This is why the cycle of chaos and violence continues. So far, we've presented on anxiety, heartbreak, and chronic busyness and overwhelm. On Saturday, Oct 30th, we're presenting the next workshop in this series -- Finding Peace: When security comes at too high a price. Our goal with the workshop is to explore: * the underlying reasons for the chronic "insecurity" that is so common in our culture. Our hope with this event is to reach people in non-profits, activists and other like-minded groups in the San Diego area. You can find all details about the workshop below and on the website. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you. Anshul Mittal ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Finding Peace. Workshop by Barbara English presented by Living Ubuntu Saturday, October 30 2010 University of San Diego Why is "insecurity" so common in our culture? Why do we stay in meaningless jobs and settle for unfulfilling relationships? Does the familiar really provide safety? How does this play out at the societal level? Why does "national security" trump everything else? Join us for this presentation where we tackle the deep-seated reasons behind our quest for "security" that is so pervasive in our society. This is a not-for-profit event. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. Advance registration is required. Please visit http://livingubuntu.org/events for more information. »
