Feb. 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Intersection of 5th & E St, S Diego02/08/2012 - 6:00pm 02/08/2012 - 7:30pm This year, we commemorate the 100-year anniversary of a city ordinance that banned public speaking and assembly in the area around 5th and E Streets in downtown San Diego and the subsequent battle that followed. During the course of this struggle, many were arrested, beaten and even killed for asserting their rights to simply stand on a soap box and speak. Please join us as we commemorate the struggle for free speech in San Diego at the original site of the protests with music, performances, speeches, and special guests on Wednesday, February 8 at 6:00 p.m. at the Intersection of 5th and E Streets, San Diego 92101 (click to view map). Free parking is available at Horton Plaza, just 2 blocks away, with validation in the mall. Bring a flashlight if you have one. For more information about this event, contact Elizabeth at enewman@unionyes.org or (619) 228-8101 x4. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ And, last ten days to see the San Diego Free Speech Fight 100-Year Anniversary Exhibit: »
